Elementary First Aid

This first aid course is approved by the Maritime and Coastguard Agency and is part of the basic first aid and safety training requirements for all seafarers employed onboard ship with designated safety or pollution duties in accordance with STCW 95 A-V1-1. On completion, students receive an elementary first aid certificate valid for 5 years. First aid Refresher training is recommended every 3 years.

Proficiency in Medical First Aid On Board Ship

Approved by the Maritime and Coastguard Agency, this course is designed for seafarers who are designated to provide medical first aid on board ship in accordance with STCW 95 A-1/4 1-3. On completion, successful students are issued with a certificate valid for 5 years. On board ship first aid refresher training is recommended every 3 years.

Course Content Includes:

Course Duration: 3 days (or a total of 21 hours tuition spread over an agreed period)

Course Code: MFA

Minimum Age / Experience: 16 years / Students must have served at sea in a merchant vessel for at least six months

Cost per Student: £210.00 (plus VAT)


Proficiency in Medical Care On Board Ship

Approved by the Maritime and Coastguard Agency, this course is designed for seafarers who are designated to take charge of medical care on board ship in accordance with STCW 95 A-V1/4-6. Formally known as the Ships Captains' Course, this course teaches students how to diagnose and manage medical problems on board ship as well as being able to participate in co-ordinated schemes for medical assistance to ships.

On completion, successful students are issued with a certificate valid for 5 years.

Course Content Includes the Management of:

Course Duration: Five Days (or a total of 35 hours tuition spread over an agreed period

Course Code: PMC

Minimum Age / Experience: 21 years / Students must have completed the Medical First Aid course within the last 5 years and completed at least 18 months service in a merchant vessel.

Proficiency in Medical Care On Board Ship (Refresher)

Approved by the Maritime and Coastguard Agency, this course is designed as a refresher for Ships Masters and seafarers who are designated to take charge of medical care on board ship in accordance with STCW 95 A-V1/4-6. Formally known as the Ships Captains Course this course enables students a chance to update their existing skills and knowledge and potential students are strongly advised to undertake a period of self-study revision of current first aid techniques and review previously taught Medical Care course information prior to commencing this course. On completion, successful students will have their qualification extended for a further period of 5 years.

Course content includes:

Course duration: 3 days (Or a total of 21 hours tuition spread over an agreed period)
