- First Aid at Work (4days or 24 hours)
- First Aid at Work Refresher (2 days or 12 hours)

First Aid at Work
Approved by the Health and Safety Executive, this course is designed to give people the knowledge and skills necessary to deal with illness and injury in the workplace - although it is also suitable for anyone wishing to gain a general grounding in first aid. Successful students receive a First Aid at Work certificate which is valid for 3 years.
Course Content Includes:
- Recognition of priorities and summoning help
- Basic Life Support - including airway management and CPR
- Management of head injuries and the unconscious casualty
- Management of wounds, bleeding and shock
- Management of eye injuries, fractures, burns and poisoning
- Management of emergency conditions such as asthma and epilepsy
- How to move a casualty safely
- The duties of an employer and record keeping
- First aid box contents and control of infection

First Aid at Work (Refresher)
To maintain the FAW qualification, this first aid refresher course must be completed within 3 years from the date of the previous FAW course. The HSE currently permit a one month extension past this date, however after this date, the full First Aid at Work course must be re-taken. Successful students receive a certificate valid for a further 3 years.
Course Content Includes:
- Recognition of priorities and summoning help
- Basic Life Support - including airway management and CPR
- An update on any changes to first aid policy
- A review of the First Aid at Work syllabus
- An opportunity to practice skills through role-play and casualty simulation
Course Duration: 2 days (or a total of 12 hours tuition spread over an agreed period)

First Aid for Appointed Persons
This course is designed as an introduction to first aid for people nominated to carry out the duties of an appointed first aid person in the workplace. On successful completion of the course, students will receive a first aid certificate which is valid for 3 years.
Course Content Includes:
- Recognition of priorities and summoning help
- Basic Life Support - including airway management and CPR
- Management of an unconscious casualty
- Management of bleeding, fractures and shock
- Documentation and the reporting of accidents and illness
- First aid box contents and precautions against infection

Basic Life Support
This short course is designed to enable people to update their BLS skills and is particularly suitable for health professionals and staff who come into regular contact with patients and the public during their normal working day.
On completion of the course, students receive a basic life support certificate valid for one year.
Course Content Includes:
- Recognition of priorities and summoning help
- Basic Life Support - including airway management and CPR
- The recovery position and management of the unconcious casualty
- Additional material can be included to enable compliance with any locally set requirements regarding the new GMS contract and QOF, indicators: Education 1 and 5
